TUKI JENCQUEL
Producer

Tuki Jencquel is a filmmaker born in Caracas and based in Berlin, with a background in both film and business. He studied directing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and earned an MBA from IESA, Venezuela’s leading business school.

He began his career as an assistant director on large-scale international TV commercials and on the BBC Storyville documentary Secrets of the Tribe by José Padilha. After directing several short fiction films and managing his family’s business—including the distribution of Montblanc in Venezuela—he returned to filmmaking to document the collapse of his country’s health system.

That story became Está Todo Bien, a feature documentary that screened at IDFA (Best of Fest), Sheffield DocFest, and other international festivals, winning several awards. His second feature, Jackie the Wolf, premiered at Hot Docs in 2023. A deeply personal film about his mother’s decision to pursue assisted suicide, it was produced with France Télévisions and supported by the CNC and Hamburg Film Fund.

In addition to directing, he has worked with Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei as a cinematographer on projects in Gaza and Brazil, and directed an investigative documentary for Deutsche Welle about oil and corruption in Venezuela. He is currently producing a feature documentary in coproduction with 3sat/ZDF, supported by the Hamburg and MV film funds.

Tuki is a member of AG-Dok and an alumnus of Eurodoc 2021.
